MP3 is standard mp3 format.
Downloaded files in this format have 192kbps VBR format.
OGG is a popular open source format which has better quality than the mp3.
DRM Free
All files you can download here are DRM free. This means they are not protected with encryption systems so you can easily copy them to any music player you have or burn a CD or DVD. The files are yours and you can make as many private copies you need. But you can't transfer the license to other users. You can read more about legal aspects in terms of service.
Visual analysis
Here is a visual picture of the differences in the spectrum of a file between the formats. For that I've analyzed the song "Nova" so you can see the differences.

Here is the analysis for the MP3 at 192kbps. As you can see high frequencies are missing. But normally many people don't notice about it. The reason is because they may reproduce it in a standard stereo equipment.

This is the OGG 192 kbps version. There is an improvement in the quality at the same bitrate. Not only it sounds better than the mp3 format but it is also open source and supported by many players and software. Great work OGG!

Here is the mp3 112 kbps version which is the one you listen when you press play in the web page. There is a clear cut of frequencies above 12.700 Hz. But this is enough to be able to enjoy the music and pre listen to it before downloading. So... Yes... downloaded files sound better than the stream version.
